MARGATE – Police here are continuing their investigation into a threatening phone call that involved the CVS store on Ventnor and Washington avenues Wednesday afternoon.

Police responded to the area surrounding the CVS store with assault rifles drawn following receipt of a threatening phone call received at police dispatch at approximately 1:36 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 22. The caller made a threat towards the CVS store, located at 9301 Ventnor Ave.

The Margate City Police Department treated the threat seriously and locked down the area during the investigation. Officers on the scene took all the necessary steps to ensure there was no immediate threat to residents and secured the scene while a preliminary investigation was conducted.

As a precaution, the CVS store remained closed for the remainder of the evening Wednesday and reopened Thursday morning at 7 a.m.

“We are continuing to work with our county, state and federal partners and our investigation is ongoing,” police stated in an update.
