Traffic advisories have been issued for the Atlantic City Marathon and Half Marathon being held Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 16-17.

The marathon and half marathon take runners on a tour of Absecon Island on the Atlantic City and Ventnor boardwalks, and roadways in Atlantic City, Ventnor, Margate and Longport.

Bicycles are prohibited from being on the boardwalk during the event and pedestrians should use caution walking or running while the race is in progress.

In addition to delays on the Brigantine Connector and Atlantic City roads, delays may be experienced in the Downbeach area:

  • 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. – Jerome Avenue from Ventnor Avenue to the Margate bridge, Atlantic Avenue from Washington Avenue in Ventnor to 11th Avenue in Longport.
  • 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.  – Amherst Avenue from Monroe Avenue to Jerome Avenue will be closed.

The course will be marked and signs posted for motorists and pedestrians. Police officers may be monitoring certain areas.

Established in 1958, the Atlantic City Marathon is the third oldest continuing marathon in the United States. The USATF Certified Boston Qualifier is held each year in October.
