LONGPORT — The Longport Police Department Monday, Oct. 18 swore in its newest police officer. Matthew Long of Parsipanny took the oath of office after serving as a Special Law Enforcement Officer (SLEO 1 and 2) for six seasons.

Long graduated from Parsipanny Hills High School in 2015 and attended Stockton University, graduating with a bachelor of science degree in criminal justice.
Long’s tenure with the agency began in 2016 when he gained employment as a seasonal SLEO 1 officer. He returned to the department in 2017 and 2018 serving in the same role gaining knowledge and experience along the way.
In 2019, Long was promoted to SLEO 2 officer. Following his successful completion from the Cape May Police Academy, Long spent nearly two and half years in this position.
The Longport Police Department is proud to welcome Matthew as its newest member and look forward to the many years ahead.
