MARGATE – With supply chain issues due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it is likely that families will be doing their holiday shopping early this year. As they do, local police and firefighters would like them to think of others whose holidays may not be as festive due to financial difficulties.
Downbeach police and firefighters will be holding their annual “Stuff the Police Cruiser” event Friday, Dec. 3 on Edgemar Circle at the rear of the Sigmund S. Rimm Athletic Complex. The event includes music, crafts, tasty treats, Santa and his helpers and much more.
Trooper, the Toys for Kids program mascot, died recently. The toy collection was held in his honor.
Families are invited to attend the festivities and bring a new unwrapped toy for distribution through the Atlantic County Toys for Kids program.
“This event has been a success year after year and thanks to your generosity countless children in this area have had a happier holiday then they thought possible,” Margate Police said on their Facebook page.
The event is being sponsored by the Longport, Margate and Ventnor police’ and firefighers’ unions, Margate City Public Works, Margate Mother’s Association, and dozens of local businesses that help out to benefit the Atlantic County Toys for Kids Program.
