File/Lisa Bee of Seaview Harbor started the Matthew Bee Memorial Fund to raise money to support those in recovery.

LINWOOD – The fourth annual “Mocktails & Cocktails” gala benefiting the Matthew Bee Memorial Fund, will be held 5:30-10 p.m. Friday, Dec. 3 at Linwood Country Club, 500 Shore Rd. Proceeds of the event will assist those in recovery.

The event includes complimentary appetizers, light fare and mocktails, a cash bar, raffle and live auction. Entertainment will be provided by Sidestory.

According to Lisa Bee, mother of Matthew Bee, who died in 2017 at age 21 from the disease of addiction, all funds go directly to help people get through detox, treatment and into sober living.

Lisa Bee formed the scholarship fund shortly after Matthew died to focus attention on the disease of addiction and provide needed resources to assist those in recovery.

The fund also partners with the Hansen Foundation to provide some of the much needed services, including detox and aftercare. Sober living is one of the most important steps in recovery, Bee said.

The organization also provides funding to Angels in Motion, an organization that provides blessing bags and other resources to the homeless and addicted.

Tickets are $100 and can be purchased at mjbmf.org.
