MARGATE – Police and fire departments from all three Downbeach towns and the Margate Mothers Association held their annual “Stuff the Police Cruiser” event Friday, Dec. 3 at the Sigmund Rimm Recreational Complex along Edgemar Circle.

The event asked residents to attend the celebration and bring an unwrapped toy for the Atlantic County Toys for Kids program, which distributes toys to children in need throughout Atlantic County not only at Christmas, but also throughout the year whenever the need for toys arise.

The event included some good eats, craft projects for children, music and dance performances, trackless train rides, costumed characters, and of course, children were able to visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus.

The weather was perfect and children took the opportunity to dash around the fields in the dark, although they were surrounded by colorful holiday lights carefully placed by members of the city’s Public Works Department.

By the end of the evening, the parade of children bringing toys waned, but police and firefighters were busy packing up three police cruisers overflowing with toys to bring to the Atlantic County Toys for Kids secret storage location where they will be sorted according to age groups and delivered to Santa for his sleigh ride around the world.
