Santa opened the holiday shopping season in Margate Saturday, Nov. 27, 2021.
MARGATE – The city’s Fire Department will be escorting Santa around town starting at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Dec.17. The entourage, which includes Santa aboard a Margate Beach Patrol surf boat, will leave Fire Station No. 2 on Fremont Avenue. Good little boys and girls are encouraged to listen for sirens blaring from the fire truck and step outside to greet the Jolly Old Elf.
Although it cannot provide a time estimate for the caravan to pass your location, the Fire Department has published the route Santa will take:
- Down Fremont Avenue and a right onto Clermont Avenue to Burk Avenue, right on Burk to Fredericksburg Avenue.
- Left on Fredericksburg into Bayshore Drive to Delevan Avenue, left onto Delevan Avenue,
- Right on Fremont Avenue to Douglas, right onto Douglas down to Bayshore Drive and into Lagoon Drive.
- Lagoon Drive to Huntington Avenue down to Amherst Avenue, then a left onto Gladstone Avenue
- Down Gladstone Avenue to Marshall Avenue, left back onto Huntington Avenue down to Amherst Avenue
- Amherst Avenue to Union Avenue, make a right onto Union to Fulton Avenue, right onto Thurlow Avenue (Wrong Way)
- Back down to Amherst Avenue to Decatur Avenue, left on Decatur Avenue to Crossover by Police Station, cross over to Benson Avenue and back to Amherst Avenue
- Left onto Amherst Avenue down to Coolidge Avenue, left on Coolidge Avenue to Monmouth Avenue, Monmouth Avenue to Fredericksburg
- Fredericksburg to Winchester Avenue, right onto Winchester Avenue to Coolidge Avenue, left on Ventnor Avenue to Fredericksburg Avenue
- Right onto Fredericksburg Avenue down to Atlantic Avenue, Atlantic Avenue up to Coolidge Avenue, Right on Coolidge to Pacific Avenue
- Pacific Avenue to Washington Avenue, Left on Washington back to Ventnor Avenue, Right back onto Ventnor Avenue, Ventnor Avenue to Jerome Avenue,
- Left onto Jerome Avenue to Fulton Avenue, left onto Fulton to Lancaster Avenue, left onto Lancaster Avenue back to Amherst Avenue, left on Amherst to Jerome Avenue
- Left onto Jerome Avenue back to Lagoon Drive and right onto Lagoon Drive, Lagoon Drive to Douglas Avenue to Fremont Avenue, left on Fremont back to Station 2.
