MARGATE – Nothing stops time and it’s New Year’s Day, so Margate followed suit with the annual Polar Plunge sponsored by Robert’s Place.

Although there were about half as many polar plungers than the last big event, which drew thousands, the fun was just as great. At noon, hundreds gathered at on the beach at Essex Avenue to wait for the man with the flag to signal it was time to take the dip.

Fortunately, the air temperature hovered around 60 degrees, which was warming after the jump in the 47-degree water.

Enjoy some photos and video from the event.
