LONGPORT – On the first day of spring, it’s nice to daydream about all the fun to be had on the beach this summer.

Longport commissioners recently approved its annual resolution setting the dates for picnicking and barbecuing on the beach this summer.

First up is Memorial Day weekend, Saturday through Monday, May 28-30, between the hours of 10 a.m. and 8 p.m.

Only charcoal barbecue grills 36-inches or smaller are allowed on the beach. Coals should be extinguished with water, wrapped in aluminum foil and deposited next to the trash receptacles. As always, alcoholic beverages are not permitted.

Picnicking and barbecuing will also be permitted on July 4th weekend, Saturday through Monday, July 2-4, and Labor Day weekend, Sept. 3-5.
