MARGATE – It was a glorious day for bargain hunting. The city held its annual Citywide Yardsale Saturday under a brilliant blue sky and cool breezes. Although there seemed to be fewer participants this year, the bargains were many.

Young boys were out on their bikes looking for Mothers Day gifts for the most special woman in their lives. One woman was selling her mothers doll collection for a song, and another resident was selling a like-new pair of chairs for $10. Still another was selling a full set of Lenox china, complete with serving platters.

A gentleman purchased two carpet bags and although he doesn’t plan on running for political office anytime soon, he said he would use them to carry his carpentry tools.

Children displayed their entrepreneurial skills off-loading toys and sporting equipment they outgrew.

Although there is no need for a raindate this year, several sellers said they would be leaving some of their unsold merchandise at the curb, which offers bargain hunters the best bargain of all – free stuff!
