Jay Wright is featured speaker at JCC Sports Night event.

MARGATE – Former Villanova Wildcats Head Coach Jay Wright will be headline speaker at the Milton & Betty Katz JCC of Atlantic County’s seventh annual Jackie and Hank Herskowitz Sports Night fundraising event. Sports Night will be held 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 11 at the Katz JCC, 501 N. Jerome Ave.

For 21 seasons, Jay Wright guided the Villanova Wildcats to new heights, including NCAA national championships in 2016 and 2018 and four appearances in the NCAA Final Four. In January 2020, the 1983 Bucknell University graduate was named the Associated Press men’s college basketball Coach of the Decade. Wright was enshrined in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame on Sept. 11, 2021.

Jeff Herskowitz, chairman of the Katz JCC Sports Night fundraising event, said he tried for two years to secure Wright as guest speaker.

“Never give up,” Herskowitz said. “As the saying goes, the third time is the charm, and he has committed to being the guest speaker for this year’s event. I am looking forward to hearing him share his key insights on being a winner not only on the court, but in life as well.”

Michael Barkann will return as master of ceremonies.

The JCC’s Sports Night event has been named after the late Jackie and Hank Herskowitz of Margate whose philanthropy helped so many. The Sports Night event raises money for its scholarship fund to further its mission to provide the children, seniors and the community with programs and services that enhance and enrich their lives.

General Admission for Sports Night is $225 and includes dinner, open bar and auctions. Ticket packages and sponsorship opportunities are available and include a VIP Meet and Greet with Jay Wright during the reception.
