Ventnor City Beach Patrol tryouts will be held Sunday, June 65.

VENTNOR – The city’s Beach Patrol will hold lifeguard tryouts10:30 a.m. Sunday, June 5 on the beach at Suffolk Avenue.

Anyone interested in trying out for a position on the beach patrol is required to submit an application and waiver signed by a physician by Saturday, June 4. Applications can be dropped off at Ventnor City Hall, 6201 Atlantic Ave., Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., or at the temporary Beach Patrol Headquarters on Suffolk Avenue between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. beginning Memorial Day weekend.

The lifeguard test includes a half-mile beach run, quarter-mile box swim and quarter-mile surf boat row. Those who pass the test will be interviewed.

The Beach Patrol will post a list of successful candidates by Tuesday, June 7, and will be contacted if they have been selected to begin the interview process.

Rookie school will be held 3:30-5:30 p.m. daily beginning May 31 for those interested in practicing the skills needed for the test.
