Meadowview Nursing Home, Northfield.

NORTHFIELD – The Meadowview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center will receive a generous donation of 10 new beds on Flag Day, June 14, for its dedicated veterans wing at the facility located at 235 Dolphin Avenue In Northfield.

Money for the beds was raised by the VFW Post Auxiliary 8098 in Egg Harbor Township. Auxiliary President Ellen Rush wanted to fulfill the dream of her late husband John, a Marine who served in Vietnam and was later the Commander of VFW Post 8098. John was a strong advocate for providing veterans with access to local care without having to travel to Philadelphia or Wilmington, Delaware to receive services covered by the federal Veterans Administration.

In December 2018, Meadowview received federal approval to provide medical services to veterans and opened a designated veterans wing with 30 beds. John was aware of the plans and asked what he could do to help. It was then that he and his wife made the commitment to provide new beds for veterans residing at Meadowview.

“We are very grateful to Ellen, the VFW Auxiliary and all those who contributed to this cause that benefits our deserving veterans and honors the memory of a great patriot,” Atlantic County Executive Dennis Levinson said in a release.
