EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP – A driver was injured Thursday when his cargo van flipped over on the Margate causeway.
Egg Harbor Township and Margate City Police responded to the report of an accident at 8:57 p.m. on June 9 on the Downbeach Express causeway.
Joshua Fortier, 41, of Harboro, Pa., was traveling west on the causeway when he lost control of his 2021 Mercedes Benz cargo van, struck the guard rail and overturned, coming to rest in the middle of the two-lane roadway.
Fortier sustained multiple lacerations and other injuries and was transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center City Division for treatment.
Traffic was detoured for about three hours while police conducted their investigation.
Sgt. Larry Graham and Officer Jim Ludwig of the Traffic Safety Unit assisted Officer Nate Lahr with the investigation. At this time motor vehicle summons are pending.
