South Pacific Island Dancers will perform at Beachstock.
MARGATE – Beachstock: The Planet’s Biggest Beach Party returns for its 11th year providing all the fun you can possibly have in the sand for about 5,000 summertime revelers. The beach festival will be held 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, June 25 between Huntington and Granville avenues. Admission is free.
Presented by the City of Margate and organized by the Margate Business Association, this year’s event features Mummers from The Jersey String Band, Emerald Isle Academy of Irish Dance, new food vendors, kid’s activities, live music, free surf and kite lessons and so much more.
New this year is the Ketel One Botanical and Tanqueray Beach Tiki Bar, featuring tastings and a service area of ready to drink canned products, plus Loyal Nine and Crown Royal. Must be 21 years of age and older. The area will be highlighted by an island vibe complete with palm trees, flamingos, Adirondack chairs, umbrellas, cornhole games, swag giveaways and more.
Also new this year is the Sustainable Downbeach tent featuring, terrapins, fun environmental educational interactive activities, displays and more. At 11 a.m. those wanting to learn more about Margate’s marine environment can meet at the 100.7 WZXL main stage for an environmental walk hosted by “Scuba” Steve Jasecki, who chairs the Sustainable Margate green team.
Other free activities include sand sculpting lessons with Matthew Deibert, the Margate Fire Department’s Cool Blast, a Kid’s Treasure Hunt, limbo contests, surf lessons with Stacey’s Surf Camp, massages by The Sourcing Center, Wawa giveaways and Air Circus Kite stunt kite demonstrations and lessons.
“We look forward to Beachstock, one of the best community events every year, and are excited to add even more kites this year by providing single line and stunt kite demonstrations and lessons on the beach. It’s our pleasure to paint the sky,” said Doug Jewell, owner of Air Circus Kite Shop.
The Margate City Police Department will be at their tent providing valuable public information and give aways. On the 95.1 WAYV Kid’s Stage, children can learn to limbo, hula hoop contest, enjoy performances by students of Suzie “Neu” Neustadter, Christine Piper and a visit from Captain America Minion.
Beachstock offers two cornhole tournaments.
A major feature of the 14-hour event is non-stop entertainment on the 100.7 WZXL main stage. Local signing sensation Teddi Fusco kicks off the event with the national anthem. The musical line up opens with the ever popular local feel good music rock and pop cover band, No Clue Trio. Country singing sensation Nikki Briar of A Taste of Country – A Lick of Rock will have event goers getting “a little bit country” with her dance lessons and rocking performance.
As the bonfire is lit the excitement continues with an evening Samoan fire knife dance performance by the South Pacific Island Dancers. Taking the stage will be Beachstock headliner Sidestory, an eight-piece band covering all genres of music.
At dusk children and their families can spread out their blankets, kick back in their beach chairs and enjoy the movie “SpongeBob: Sponge on the Run.”
Back this year is the volleyball tournament, Cornhole Spring League Championship and Beachstock Family Fun Cornhole Tournament with a top prize of $500. Official rules will apply, and teams can compete to win cash prizes. Spectators and guests and watch the tournament from the Colmar Home Center “Chill Zone,” featuring comfy furniture and refreshments. Beach goers can enjoy delicious foods and drinks from Double Eagle Saloon, California Yogurt, Tacocat, Aneu Kitchen Juicery and Catering, The Little Sicilian and Tin Cup Soda.
Fine artisans will be selling their crafts, including Earth Product Essentials, Bow Knife and Siesta Seaglass. Culinary vendors Goodway Bakery and Preservation Provisions. Colmar Home Center will present information about Renewal by Anderson.
A free jitney shuttle will be available 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. along Atlantic Avenue between Coolidge and Fredericksburg avenues, and the Eugene A. Tighe School parking lot on Monmouth Avenue
