MARGATE – The Downbeach Offices of Emergency Management will be conducting a full scale field training exercise starting at 7:45 a.m. Wednesday, June 29 on the beach at Huntington Avenue.

The exercise will simulate a water rescue and include emergency management teams from Ventnor, Margate, Longport, Atlantic County, NJ State Police and the U.S. Coast Guard.

The simulation, which includes the disciplines employed by lifeguards, police, firefighters and EMS teams, will demonstrate how various jurisdictions work together in emergency situations.

“It will show us how our Standard Operating Procedures work across jurisdictions and if revisions are needed,” Margate Emergency Management Coordinator Chuck LaBarre said.

Residents and visitors should not be alarmed when they see activity on the beach and are welcome to view the training from a safe distance, such as the pier at Exeter Avenue.
