Lil’ Lucy playground

MARGATE – The city’s Recreation Department will hold a grand opening celebration for the newly built Lucy the Elephant playground erected between the tennis and basketball courts at the Sigmund Rimm Recreation Complex on Jerome Avenue.

The ribbon cutting will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 6.

The playground, which has been a popular spot since it was completed weeks ago, looks just like the real Lucy the Elephant, which is currently under renovations.

In addition to the main play area, which has been dubbed “Baby Lucy,” the playground includes an oversized baseball bat and glove to climb on, swing set and several picnic tables with umbrellas. The surface of the play area is heavily cushioned to protect the little ones.

Lucy’s trunk is really a slide.
