MARGATE – College Basketball coaching legend, Jay Wright joined the 7th annual Jackie and Hank Herskowitz Sports Night fundraising event as the headline speaker Thursday, Aug. 11 at the Katz JCC, 501 N. Jerome Ave. The JCC’s sold out Sports Night event raised $130,000 for the JCC’s scholarship fund for children and seniors of Atlantic County and programs that enrich their lives.

“Jay Wright was the perfect fit for this year’s keynote speaker,” Sports Night Chairman Jeff Herskowitz said in a release. “After coaching in the Tokyo Olympics and his recent retirement, the timing was right to feature Coach Wright and continue to raise money to support the children and families in our community.”

Jay Wright guided the Villanova Wildcats to new heights over 21 seasons, including NCAA national championships in 2016 and 2018 and four appearances in the NCAA Final Four. In January 2020, the 1983 Bucknell University graduate was named the Associated Press Men’s College Basketball Coach of the Decade. Wright was enshrined in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame on Sept. 11, 2021.
