Surfing legend Dean Randazzo will bring ‘Surf for a Cause’ to Margate, Sept. 10.

MARGATE – The Dean Randazzo Cancer Foundation will host its annual surfing competition Saturday, Sept. 10 on the beach at the Margate Fishing Pier located on the beach at Exeter Avenue. Check-in begins at 6:30 a.m.

The festive event features some of the region’s best surfers of all ages whose combined efforts raise funds for the organization’s “Surf it Forward” campaign. Hundreds of spectators attend the event throughout the day to mingle with friends and view talented surfers as they ride waves. An after-party follows the competition.

Cost to surf in age-group division is $50. Register at https://www.thedrcf.org/surf-for-a-cause. Sponsorships are also available.

The Dean Randazzo Cancer Foundation was established Sept. 5, 2001, after Dean Randazzo, New Jersey’s most successful professional surfer, was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma. His life was profoundly changed by the diagnosis and since then, he has faced many obstacles undergoing treatment. Now a cancer survivor, Randazzo continues to give back and raise awareness for families in the community.Since its inception, the foundation has raised more than $1 million to help people affected by cancer.
