Ventnor’s 2nd annual Mangia, Mangia Community Dinner will be held Oct. 2 outside The Red Room

Ventnor to hold 2nd annual Mangia, Mangia pasta dinner

VENTNOR – “When the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie, that’s amore,” will likely be heard during the 2nd annual Mangia, Mangia Sunday supper being held Sunday, Oct. 2 under a tent at The Red Room Café, 141 N. Dorset Ave.

Last year’s event, billed as a way for the community to come together following a long, hot summer, was a big hit with those who attended the event, and city officials vowed to make it an annual affair.

Organized by city Administrator Maria Mento and Red Room owner Maria Gatta, it was a fun way to thank the community for a great summer. The event is modeled after a similar dinner Mento attends in Haddon Heights each year.

The BYOB event includes a four-course meal with appetizers, salad, pasta, meatballs and dessert. Singer Vic Rubino will entertain the crowd gathered at two long community tables set up in the street outside the restaurant with Italian classics reminiscent of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and other offerings from the Great American Songbook.

Tickets are likely to sell out quickly like they did last year. Tickets are $35 per person, $12 for children and must be purchased in advance only on Eventbrite, under “Ventnor Pasta.”

Seating begins at 1 p.m. with dinner served at 2 p.m. Organizers request participants be on time so they don’t miss any of the fun. It is a rain or shine event.
