MARGATE – With the end of summer just two days away, the city is beginning to look a lot like fall. The Margate Business Association has embarked on its fall decorating campaign ahead of the big weekend Fall Funfest by the Bay, Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 24-25.

MBA, the city’s Public Works Department and local businesses are decorating key locations in the city with bails of hay, cornstalks, pumpkins, scarecrows and colorful mums. The surf boat in front of Historic City Hall on Washington Avenue, the Margate City Public Library, Municipal Complex and the Martin Bloom Pavilion are all decked out for fall.

The big weekend includes hundreds of vendors who set up shop along the Amherst Avenue bayfront district, live music, children’s activities, costumed character parades, mummers, Miss New Jersey and more. Ray Scott’s Dock will feature a Wetlands Wonderland and a cornhold tournament will be held on Saturday.

To celebrate autumn, the MBA is hosting a selfie contest Sept. 23 through Oct. 2. Send a photo of yourself or a loved one or four-legged friend in front of a Margate business and email it to info@margatehasmore.org. A winner will be selected at random to receive a gift certificate from a participating business.
