Steve & Cookies Dog Show, Margate Funfest by the Bay, Sept. 25, 2022.

MARGATE – They came in all shapes and sizes in celebration of man’s best friend. Pups, pugs and pedigrees rare in linage took the stage at Steve & Cookies Dog Show Sunday to close out a weekend of festivities at the Funfest by the Bay.

For a time it looked like the crowd of people had lessened on Amherst Avenue from Saturday’s merriment, but in actuality, they just moved to the parking lot of the restaurant to watch dozens of dogs show their beauty and talent. The pups mugged for the camera, did a lot of sniffing, and for the most part were extrememly well behaved.

Some came as they were, but others dolled up for the event. One little guy even dressed up as Aladdin.

Margate resident Dan Gottlieb served as master of ceremony and at times seemed like a seasoned late nite talk show host delivering impromptu punch lines that kept the audience amused.

A panel of judges looked very serious marking up their ballots as the dogs and their pet parents competed in several categories.

And now for the winners:

Best Dressed Small Dog – Puff
Best Dressed Large Dog – Miki
Prettiest/Most Handsome Small Dog – Mr. Chewy
Prettiest/Most Handsome Large Dog – Vito
Best Rescue – Jenkins
