Residents and tenants have until Dec. 30 to file for the new ANCHOR benefit program, which replaces the NJ Homestead Rebate program.

Applications are being mailed to homeowners and tenants across New Jersey. If you don’t receive your mailer by the first week of October, contact the NJ Division of Taxation. Applications can also be filed online at the division’s ANCHOR page at

Unlike previous years when rebates were credited to your tax bill, homeowners with incomes of $150,000 or less will receive a $1,500 in the form of direct deposit or a check. Those with incomes above $150,000 will receive $1,000 and renters with incomes of $150,000 or less will receive $450. Checks will be sent to qualified individuals in the spring of 2023.

Homeowners who filed a homestead benefit application last year may be able to obtain their ID and PIN numbers online. Tenants do not need an ID or PIN number to file. Visit the Division’s ANCHOR page for all filing information.

Applications are also available by calling the ANCHOR hotline at 1-877-658-2972 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Due to high call volume, the hotline may be unable to take your call at certain times.
