Michael Heiler

MAYS LANDING – A Ventnor man has been charged with the alleged distribution of child abuse images and videos via a social messaging application, according to the Atlantic County Prosecutor. Michael Heiler, 51, of Ventnor, was arrested without incident and lodged in the Atlantic County Justice Facility.

The Department of Homeland Security Investigations received a referral of inappropriate content distributed on a peer-to-peer network file sharing platform and contacted the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, which joined the investigation.

The joint investigation led Investigators to identify Heiler and determine he distributed images of child sexual exploitation. He was charged with a 2nd degree offense in reference to the distribution of child abuse images via a peer-to-peer file sharing platform and 3rd degree possession of child abuse images.

The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Internet Crimes Against Children Unit worked in cooperation with the United States Department of Homeland Security Investigations, and the Ventnor Police Department.
