Take a Santa selfie

LONGPORT – The Borough is planning a festive holiday season with three big events celebrating the spirit of the season.

First up is a Holiday Gathering sponsored by the Longport Public Library and Historical Society Museum. The event will be held 1 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 6 at Guild Hall at the Church of the Redeemer, 20th and Atlantic avenues. It features food provided by Essl’s Dugout and a string quartet. The gathering is a great way to chat with friends and learn about upcoming library programs. Register in advance by calling the library at 609-487-7403.

The borough will hold its annual Tree and Menorah Lighting 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 9 at the gazebo in the park behind Borough Hall, 2305 Atlantic Ave. Refreshments and a concert will be served after the event in Commission Chambers. The event is free and open to the public.

Then, at 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 18, residents can enjoy a Holiday Concert with Cape Shore Chorale sponsored by the Library Foundation at the Church of the Redeemer. The concert will be followed by a cookie and coffee reception.

And lastly, the holidays wouldn’t be complete without a Visit from Santa Claus. Members of the Longport Volunteer Fire Department will be available to give Santa an escort around town, 6-8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 19. Anyone wanting to ensure Santa visits their home should send an email to preslpvfd@longport-nj.us.

Seasonal Beach Tags make great holiday gifts.

Shoppers are also advised that everyone’s favorite stocking stuffers will be available for purchase just in time for holiday gift giving. Holiday beach tags, which make great gifts, are on sale now at Borough Hall, 2305 Atlantic Ave., while supplies last. Gift-boxed seasonal tags are $18 each, and senior tags are $8. Payment may be made by cash or check only.
