VENTNOR – Police responded to an apartment building located on Ventnor Avenue at 4:08 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3 after receiving a 911 call from a concerned resident.
Investigating Officer Matthew Gotham, Det. Sgt. Peter Munizza and Det. Kevin Brady arrived at  6303 Ventnor Ave. after receiving a report that a male had been shot. The officers located a 27-year-old male inside the building suffering from a gunshot wound. Ventnor City Fire Department personnel transported the gunshot victim to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center in Atlantic City where he later died.
Police said It appears that the fatal injuries sustained were a result of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The call was received during preparations for the Ventnor City Twilight Holiday Parade, and the start of the parade was delayed about 15 minutes.
The investigation is continuing.
