MARGATE – A familiar face could be running things at the municipal building next year.
Following an executive session held at a special meeting Wednesday, Dec. 21, the Board of Commissioners voted unanimously to “move forward” with contract negotiations to hire Ken Mosca as the city’s next full-time administrator.
Mosca is a familiar face in area municipalities, as he serves as the public affairs manager for Atlantic City Electric. He also served as administrator in the City of Linwood for seven years and in Ocean Township for two years.
Although the commissioners renewed Acting Administrator Rich Deaney’s contract for 2023 at their Dec. 1 meeting, it was on a “temporary” basis.
The city advertised the position in its newspapers of record and the NJ League of Municipalities and received a robust response. Nine candidates applied for the position and after several rounds of individual interviews with department heads and the commissioners, the board narrowed the search down to two highly qualified candidates, although one of them only wanted to work on a part-time basis.
Deaney, a principal at Jersey Professional Management, a company that recruits and places professional management personnel in local municipalities, has worked for the city on a part-time basis for the last 12 years. He is employed through JPM on a voucher system.
Deaney will be retained to assist with the transition.
