Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

The New Jersey Martin Luther King Jr. Commemorative Commission is offering 10, $5,000 scholarships to New Jersey high school seniors.

The scholarships will be awarded based on a review of three essays on assigned topics.

Applicants are required to submit thre 100-300 word essays on the following topics:

  • How does the life of MLK inspire you as you think about your future?
  • Tell us about your service to others during your high school years.
  • The Gandhian Society recently opened the Eternal Gandhi Peace Center in Atlantic City. In your own words, how do you think Mahatma Gandhi influenced MLK?

Applicants selected for final review will be required to email two letters of recommendation from teachers, advisors and/or representatives of community based organizations. High school transcripts are also required.

The deadline to apply is Feb. 24. Independent reviewers will score the applications.
