1. The Upper Township and Ocean City Offices of Emergency Management announced an implosion of the boiler units at the former B.L. England Generating Station in Beesley’s Point is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Friday, April 21.

The demolition will be conducted under controlled conditions in a restricted area, and there will be no threat to public safety or public health.

Please do not be alarmed if you hear the sound of the implosion on Friday morning.

The schedule is subject to change based on weather and other factors.

Safe viewing areas, including the shared use path on the Garden State Parkway bridge, will be designated. Parking restrictions on Route 9 and other nearby areas will be in place.

The event will not include demolition of the stack at the former power plant, which is now scheduled for a later date.
