U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary

BRIGANTINE – The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary will be holding its 2023 Boating Safety Classes at the Brigantine Beach Community Center, 265 42nd St. The eight-hour classes will be held starting at 9 a.m. on April 22, May 13, June 17 and July 15.

The State of New Jersey requires all boat operators, including jet ski operators, to have a NJ Boating Safety Certificate. The course is suitable for adults and children ages 13 and older.

The course is taught by qualified U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary instructors and concentrates on all aspects of staying safe while out on the water. Topics covered include use of life jackets, required safety equipment, U.S. Aids to Navigation System, buoys and beacons. Boating law and procedures for handling boating emergencies, such as hypothermia, boating accidents, man overboard recovery and running aground will be covered. A test will be administered at the conclusion of the class and all who pass will receive a NJ Boating Safety Certificate.
