VENTNOR – Nearly 100 people, including national, state and local officials, attended an Eagle Scout Court of Honor Ceremony held Saturday, April 15 at Greater Absecon Island VFW Post 215.

The Court of Honor bestowed Eagle Scout rank for Jake Hocker and Cooper Kane, both members of Troop 55 of Somers Point.

Hocker’s project entailed building three raised garden beds from recycled pallets.

He hopes to study aeronautics at Kent State University in Ohio or University of North Dakota, with the goal of becoming a professional pilot.

Cooper’s project was to build an octagonal Gaga ball game pit. Gaga is  below the knees version of dodgeball that uses a soft foam ball and requires dodging, striking, running and jumping skills.

He is planning on studying engineering at University of Alabama.
