MARGATE – The Friends of Encore Learning of Stockton University, in conjunction with the Margate Public Library, announce a unique selection of engaging, interactive and educational courses for lifelong learners. The summer catalog of programs are held at the Margate Library, Bloom Pavilion and Stockton’s Atlantic City campus.

  • Art-themed Movies with Shirley Belitsky will be shown 1:30 p.m. Wednesdays, June 14, July 12 and Aug. 9 at Stockton Atlantic City campus
  • Behind the Scenes with a Trial Lawyer with Mary Maudsley will be presented 10:30 a.m. Thursdays, June 8, July 6 and Aug. 3 at the Margate Library
  • Don’t Judge a Book by its Film and Vice Versa by Barbara Coleman Giorgio will be the program 10:30 a.m. Mondays, June 12, July 10 and Aug. 14 at the Margate Library
  • Documentary Films with Tom Chin will be presented 1:30 p.m. Thursdays, June 15, July 13 and Aug. 10 in Room 216 at the Stockton Atlantic City campus. The film for June is “Best Boy,” July “Gershwin Summertime,” and August “HMS Pinafore”
  • Drawing My Way with Elaine Wisler will be presented 10:30 a.m. Thursdays, June 1, July 13 and Aug. 10 at the Margate Library
  • Elaine’s Summer Reads with Elaine Geller will be held 10:30 a.m. Mondays, June 5, July 17 and Aug. 7 at the Margate Library. June’s read is “Agatha Christie, A Very Elusive Woman,” by Lucy Worsley
  • Financial Scams, Scandals and Scoundrels will be presented by David Sufrin, 4 p.m. Tuesdays, June 13, July 11 and Aug. 8 at the Bloom Pavilion
  • Film Noir with John Lynskey will be presented 1:30 p.m. Wednesdays, June 21, July 19 and Aug. 23 at Stockton Atlantic City campus
  • Great Decisions by Steve Baer will be held 10:30 a.m. Mondays, June 19, July 31 and Aug. 21 at the Margate Library
  • Longer than Flash, Shorter than Short, Stories by Raymond Carver, with Meryl Rodgers will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesdays, June 13, July 11 and Aug. 8 at the Margate Library
  • Legally Speaking with Bill Subin will be held 1:30 p.m. Thursdays, June 29, July 27 and Aug. 17 in Room 216 at Stockton Atlantic City campus
  • Music and Movies of the 60s with Sharon Harris-Zlotnick will be held 1:30 p.m. Thursdays, June 22, July 20 and Aug. 3 at Room 216 at Stockton Atlantic City campus
  • Psychology of Everyday Relationships, presented by Psychologist Phyliss Merion Shanken will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesdays, June 21, July 12 and Aug. 9 in Room 326 at Stockton Atlantic City campus

An Evening with Nelson Johnson, author of “Boardwalk Empire,” will speak about his books and experiences with the acclaimed HBO series, Tuesday, July 11. Save the date.

The FELS Luncheon will be held noon Thursday, June 1 at the Bloom Pavilion. Special guest speaker is Tom Chin, and a one-act play will be performed. The buffet luncheon will be catered by Hannah G’s, and includes salad, choice of chicken, fish or pasta entrée, sides, dessert and beverages. Seating is limited. $25 in advance.

All classes are $30 for three sessions. Volume discount for four or more classes is $25.

The Margate Library is located at 8100 Atlantic Ave. in Margate; Bloom Pavilion is located on Huntington Avenue and the beach, behind the library; and the Stockton Campus is located at 3711 Atlantic Ave. in Atlantic City.
