Greater Absecon Island VFW Post 215 Commander Anthony Ventura.

VENTNOR – Greater Absecon Island VFW Post 215 has elected and installed a full slate of new officers who take charge the middle of June.

WWI and WWII veterans established and built the post home in Ventnor as Post 3361 after WWII. The last decade has seen Korean and Vietnam war veterans keep the post going, which was particularly difficult following flood damage from Superstorm Sandy in 2012. A post in Atlantic City merged with the Ventnor Post in 2014 to become Greater Absecon Island VFW Post 215.

The Ventnor post celebrated its 100th anniversary in Sept. 15, 2019. Over the past few years, the veterans’ group attracted new members willing to keep the history and tradition of the Post going for the next generation. Faithfully serving Auxiliary members agreed to continue for another year and were also installed. Refreshments were served following the installation.

The newly elected officers are:

  • Commander Anthony Ventura, U.S. Navy, Afghanistan War
  • Senior Vice Commander Kevin Miller, U.S. Air Force, Iraq War
  • Junior Vice Commander Christopher Luisi, U.S. Air Force, Afghanistan War
  • Quartermaster Michael Lemaine, U.S. Marine Corps, Afghanistan War
  • Trustee #1 Deesha Latimer, U.S. Air Force, Iraq War
  • Trustee #2 Sean Latimer, U.S. Air Force, Iraq War & Korean Defense

The post is currently conducting its semi-annual fundraising effort in support of veterans’ and youth programs.
