MARGATE – Children who like to frolic in the rain enjoyed dodging raindrops during the Margate Community Church’s annual Spring Fling held Saturday afternoon. An on-and-off light drizzle kept away the sunshine, but nevertheless, happiness prevailed.

Children were happy to receive a balloon animal, taste Mr. Softee ice cream, pet the friendly farm animals in the petting zoo, and take a pony ride on the bridal path in front of the church. A DJ played popular music, but “Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head” was not to be heard.

Indoors and in the courtyard of the stately brick church with the tall white steeple, volunteers sold beautiful baskets of flowers. There was a variety of vibrant colored begonias perfect for a shady spot on a front porch, flowering plants in smaller pots perfect for garden beds, and hanging baskets that would make a great gift for a loved one on Mother’s Day.

Although some may have missed the outdoor festival of spring, the Flower Sale will continue tomorrow, May 14, following Sunday services until 4 p.m.
