ATLANTIC CITY – The Miss New Jersey Education Foundation will hold its 2023 preliminary and final competitions Thursday through Saturday, June 15-17 in the Superstar Theater at Resorts Casino Hotel. All evening events begin promptly at 8 p.m. Additionally, the Miss New Jersey Teen final competition will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, June 17.

Miss New Jersey is celebrating 90 years, and its newly renamed parent organization, Miss America Opportunity is more than 100 years old.

The Miss America Opportunity is more than a one-night telecast and provides a unique opportunity for women to obtain scholarship awards. Representing each of the four points on the winner’s crown, the program honors “Style, Service, Scholarship and Success.” Participants of the Miss New Jersey competition acquire lifelong skills while earning scholarships, meet other like-minded women, cultivate their own personal style and engage with the communities they represent.

The competition has evolved since the bathing beauty review was an act of rebellion during a time when women weren’t permitted to wear swimsuits in public. In 1945, the organization started awarding scholarships instead of prize money, making Miss America one of the first organizations in the U.S. to offer college scholarships to women. In the 1980s, the Miss America Organization officially made community service a pillar of the organization, helping to raise awareness and millions of dollars for worthy causes. The women who compete come from all walks of life. Some use their scholarships to become neurosurgeons, social activists, journalists, expert coders, jet pilots, or whatever she was created to be.

The women in this year’s competition are beautiful in the way they are smart, principled and passionate, and will use their influence to make an impact on the world.

Preliminary competitions will be held 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday, with the final competition on Saturday.

Tickets for the preliminaries are $65-85. Tickets for the final competition are $75-100. To purchase tickets, go to https://www.showtix4u.com/event-details/73677

A Miss New Jersey After Party will be held 11:30 p.m. Saturday, June 17 at Resorts Ocean Ballroom, where ticket holders can meet the newly crowned Miss New Jersey along with other competitors, organizers and supporters. Tickets are $55 and can be purchased at https://missnj.org/afterparty/
