Students at the VECC attend an awards assembly for excellence in math and reading.

VENTNOR – The Ventnor Educational Community Complesx Monday June 12 celebrated AR Reading and IXL Math Day.

Tony Day and his Around the Globe Band

Students in grades 5-8 attended the awards assembly during which the top three students in AR & IXL in each grade level received trophies for excellence in reading and math.

Guest speaker was jazz musician Tony Day and his Around the Globe Band.

VECC music teacher Evan Shea joins the band

Day explained the importance of reading and math in a music career. He then brought students up on the stage to demonstrate how to count out different beats on various instruments simultaneously. Music teacher Evan Shea joined the band on the vibraphone and Kimberly Shea sang vocals.
