Clear the Shelters will be held Aug. 24-27, 2023 in Atlantic County.

PLEASANTVILLE – Anyone considering adopting a dog or cat, should check out the Atlantic County Animal Shelter, next weekend when all adoption fees will be waived during the annual “Clear the Shelters” promotion.

This is the eighth year the Atlantic County Animal Shelter is participating in the nationwide pet adoption drive sponsored by NBC Universal that has resulted in more than 500 successful adoptions from its facility.

Reduced fee adoption days are Thursday through Sunday, Aug. 24-27 at the shelter, 240 Old Turnpike Rd. in Pleasantville.

The Atlantic County Animal Shelter offers canines and felines of all ages, sizes and temperaments. And on occasion pure bred dogs and cats become available for adoption.

“This is a perfect opportunity for those looking to add a new pet to their family,” Atlantic County Executive Dennis Levinson said in a release. “We encourage you to adopt a forever friend from the Atlantic County Animal Shelter during this special no fee event.”

Regular adoption fees at the shelter range from $85 for cats and kittens to $110 for dogs and puppies and include mandatory sterilization, age appropriate vaccinations, diagnostic testing, a microchip and free veterinary consultation. Canines adopted from the shelter are also provided free obedience classes.

Appointments are available 1-4 p.m. daily. For more, call 609-485-2345.
