MARGATE – Community members and students spent time on a windy, sometimes rainy Saturday morning cleaning up beaches as part of the semi-annual Beach Sweep held in all three Downbeach towns.
In Margate, Recycling Coordinator Anthony Edge handed out data sheets for participants to document what types of trash and unique items they found on the beach.
The data provides information that Clean Ocean Action uses to determine sources of pollution, trends, and to promote solutions through legislation.
Students in Eugene A. Tighe Middle School science teacher Chelsi Compton’s environmental group participated in the beach sweep again this year.
