Ventnor Police to Take Back Drugs Saturday, Oct. 28 at City Hall.

VENTNOR – It’s time to clean out the medicine cabinet.

The Police Department will be partnering with the Drug Enforcement Administration for the National Take Back Initiative #25 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday Oct. 28 at City Hall, 6201 Atlantic Ave.

A Ventnor City detective will be located at the Police Department on the first floor of City Hall near the Cambridge Avenue entrance to collect no longer needed prescription medications. It is completely anonymous and no questions will be asked.

All solid dosage pharmaceutical products and liquids in consumer containers will be accepted. Liquid products, such as cough syrup, should remain sealed in their original container. Due to potential hazard posed by blood-borne pathogens, intravenous solutions, injectables and syringes will not be accepted.

Since its inception in 2010, DEA’s bi-annual National Prescription Take Back Day has removed more than 17 million pounds of unnecessary medications from communities across the country.

According to the DEA, old, unwanted, or expired medications left in the home can be a gateway to addiction, and have helped fuel the opioid epidemic. Too often, unused prescription drugs find their way into the wrong hands, including those of children and teens.
