The Downbeach towns of Ventnor, Margate and Longport have set the official hours for Trick or Treating.

Trick-Or-Treating hours are 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 31.

Follow these safety tips from the National Safety Council:

  • All costumes, wigs and accessories should be fire-resistant
  • Fasten reflective tape to costumes and bags, or give children glow sticks to carry
  • Opt for nontoxic Halloween makeup over masks, which can obscure vision; always test makeup in a small area first to see if any irritation develops. Remove all makeup before children go to bed to prevent skin and eye irritation
  • Wear makeup and hats rather than costume masks that can obscure vision
  • Don’t eat candy until it has been inspected at home
  • Parents of very young children should remove any choking hazards such as gum, peanuts, hard candies, or small toys from the Halloween bags
  • Parents should inspect commercially wrapped treats for signs of tampering, such as an unusual appearance or discoloration, tiny pinholes, or tears in wrappers. Throw away anything that looks suspicious
  • A responsible adult should accompany young children on neighborhood rounds
  • Teach your children never to enter a stranger’s home or car
  • Instruct children to travel only in familiar, well lit areas and stick with their friends
  • Motorists should watch for children walking on roadways, medians and curbs, and enter and exit driveways carefully.

Enjoy a safe and happy Halloween.
