VENTNOR – The Ventnor Business Association has announced the winner of this year’s Polar Plunge merchandise design contest.

Students in the city’s public schools were invited to create artwork that will be used on T-shirts and other merchandise promoting the annual New Year’s Day plunge in the ocean.

“We were so blown away by the job the creativityand theimagination shown in the entries,” VBA Chairwoman Brenda Dowd said. “The judges had a really, really tough time deciding and it took longer than anticipated.”

Ryan Palma, 11, was the winner of the contest, which was overseen in the schools by art teacher Stephanie Polinski.

Merchandise will be available on pre-sale dates which have yet to be announced.

The VBA is also seeking sponsorships for this year’s celebration.
