Shop Small Business Weekend will be held in Margate Nov. 24-26, 2023.

MARGATE — The city’s business and restaurant districts will celebrate Shop Small Business Weekend Friday through Sunday, Nov. 24-26 with great sales, discounts, a parade, and two contests for shoppers.

A holiday parade on Saturday features an America Sign Language Santa, an Elf and Unicorn arriving on a Margate Beach Patrol surfboat, Miss New Jersey Victoria Mozitis and other costumed caracters.

Children can drop their letters to Santa in the North Pole mailbox in the foyer of Bocca Coal Fired Bistro Saturday through 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 3.

The parade route is Ventnor Avenue from Coolidge to Essex Avenue down the length of Ventnor Avenue Essex Ave.

Leslie’s Dance Studio dancers will perform in front of Bocca, characters Buzz Lightyear and Minion will ride high above the streets in a 5-ton storm truck. The ACUA CNG pickup truck will deliver mascot Supercan, and the U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps Atlantic City Division will march the parade route. An inflatable Lucy the Elephant will glide down Ventnor Avenue and the 95.1 WAYV / 100.7 WZXL van will be playing favorite holiday tunes.

Pictures with mascots and characters can be taken at Bocca, where children will enjoy a complimentary slice of pizza. A Barbie-themed tent will be available for photo opportunities, USA DJ will offer Holiday Songs Karaoke and 95.1 WAYV will have DJ for a day. The Margate Mothers Association will offer children a free holiday craft activity.

Sustainable Margate will have environmental displays at Bocca where participants can spin a wheel or play the quiz game to win prizes. New Jersey Fairy Hair will be on hand at Bocca ready to adorn your hair with sparkly strand extensions. Pumpkin decorating will be offered for a fee.

A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Atlantic County Toys for Kids Program. Guests are also encouraged to bring a new unwrapped toy to donate to the program.

On Saturday, shoppers can enjoy a scavenger hunt for coupons hidden in small holiday boxes placed outside businesses. Also, two contests will be held to celebrate Shop Small Weekend

Receipts Are All the Rage

Customers can take a photo of their receipt from any Margate business purchase made from Friday to Sunday, Nov. 24-26. Send the receipt photo to info@margatehasmore.com. One randomly selected winner will receive a gift certificate from the store of purchase. Winners will be notified via email.
