Maria Mento takes the oath of office for the position of Ventnor commissioner. Mayor Lance Landgraf administers the oath while Michael Goloff holds the Bible.

VENTNOR – Mayor Lance Landgraf Thursday, Nov. 9 administered the oath of office for Maria Mento as a member of the non-partisan Ventnor Board of Commissioners.

Mento, who was appointed to the board on Feb. 23 after former Mayor Beth Holtzman resigned, was the sole candidate to file to run for Holtzman’s unexpired term in the Nov. 7 General Election.

Prior to her appointment, Mento served as the city’s temporary acting administrator, a position she served with distinction since the Imagine Ventnor slate took office in 2016.

Although the results of the election will not be official until the Atlantic County Board of Elections certifies them, it reported that Mento received 1,084 votes.

“It was a landslide,” Landgraf joked before she took the oath of office.
