South Jersey Industries presents a check totaling $67,602 to the New Jersey Veterans Network.

FOLSOM – South Jersey Industries Nov. 8 celebrated Veterans Day by hosting a special event with its Veterans Engagement Team and the New Jersey Veterans Network.

At the event held at SJI headquarters in Folsom, employees heard from VETS leaders, and employees wrote holiday cards and collected new toys for NJ Veteran Network families.

SJI also presented Veterans Network Director of Veterans Outreach Frank “Doc” Schupp with a donation check totaling $67,602 from the company’s annual employee giving campaign. SJI also announced the commitment of a $77,765 employee donation in 2024.

Schupp attended the event with his service dog, Shadow, and shared how employee donations impact the organization.

“We are immensely grateful to SJI for their generous support,” he said. “This donation not only strengthens our mission to serve our veterans but also exemplifies the true spirit of community and compassion. Together, we’re making a lasting impact on the lives of those who’ve sacrificed for our nation.”

VETS is an employee resource group that supports the personal growth and professional development of former servicemen and women who have transitioned to the workforce in the South Jersey Gas and Elizabethtown Gas service territories. SJI has increased veteran hiring by 300%, and approximately 58 or 4.8% of SJI employees are veterans.

“At SJI, we are incredibly proud to support the New Jersey Veterans Network and to make an impact to veteran families in need,” South Jersey Gas President and COO Bubba Schomber said. “This Veterans Day and every day, we are grateful to all veterans for their service protecting our country.”
