EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP – Police have identified Llewellyn Stewart, 65, of Ventnor, as the victim of a fatal hit and run last Thursday on Route 40 in the West Atlantic City section of the township.

Stewart was struck around 6:40 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 9 as he walked across the Black Horse Pike near Bayport Drive.

Police believe the driver of what is believed to be an SUV may not have realized he struck Stewart and just kept going. They are still trying to locate the vehicle, which was headed westbound when Stewart was hit. The vehicle may have a broken headlight.

Police said the roadway was very dark at the time.
