Children can Touch a Truck during the ACUA Recycles Day on Saturday, Nov. 18.

EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP – The Atlantic County Utilities Authority will host an America Recycles Day open house 1-4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 18 at the ACUA Recycling Center, 6700 Delilah Road.

Art from the  ninth annual Atlantic County Recycled Art Contest will be exhibited and contest winners will be recognized during an awards ceremony at 2 p.m. The Atlantic County Clean Communities Program will also celebrate the Fall Litter Challenge winners at the ceremony.

Lots of fun and learning Saturday at ACUA Recycles Day Open House.

Children will have the chance to climb aboard one of ACUA’s vehicles and see what it’s like to sit in the driver’s seat of a recycling truck. In addition to Touch a Truck, the event will feature local environmental organizations, recycled crafts, activities, games and an appearance by ACUA mascot Supercan. Tours of the facility will be offered and adults in attendance can enter to win a 96-gallon recycling cart.

“Recycling is an easy way for everyone to reduce waste and lessen their environmental impact,” ACUA President Matt DeNafo said. “America Recycles Day gives us another opportunity to welcome residents and help everyone to understand their role in the process and why it is important to recycle correctly.”

America Recycles Day is a nationally recognized day dedicated to promoting and celebrating recycling in the United States. For more information about ACUA’s America Recycles Day Open House, see acua.com/ard.
