Margate Cornhold League to hold two indoor cornhole tournaments.

MARGATE – What better way to wake up from hibernation than loosening your frigid muscles with two great cornhole outings?

The 2024 season of the Margate Cornhole League, sponsored by The Silva Group at OCF Realty, kicks off on Sunday Feb. 25 with the indoor “Winter Classic Tournament” being held at the Milton and Betty Katz Jewish Community Center, 501 N. Jerome Ave.

Players can register in advance at the margatehasmore.com website or in person at the JCC beginning 11:15 a.m. on the day of the event. The tournament begins at noon. Entry fee for the double elimination tournament is $50 and each two-person team will vie for cash prizes for first, second and third place. Food, courtesy of Dino’s Subs and Pizza, and beverages from Sunrise Wine & Tequilla Bar, will be available for purchase throughout the afternoon.

The winter thaw begins in earnest with the “Speedbag Saturday” presented by Marketplace Realty noon-5 p.m. Saturday April 6. The annual rite of spring favorite puts a new spin on cornhole as teams play for 10 minutes at each of four host sponsor locations and the fun begins as players amass as many points as possible to win great prizes for the top three teams. Games will be played at Ventura’s Greenhouse, Robert’s Place, Bocca Coal Fired Bistro and Maynard’s Cafe and each venue will provide a free appetizer and drink specials. Don’t worry about driving to each location and parking hassles. The Margate Business Association will provide free jitney rides between the venues. Registration fee is $25 per team. Register at margatehasmore.com.

Teams may also register for the spring, summer and fall Margate Cornhole League seasons that run from May 13 to Oct. 28.  Single season fee is $100, $190 for two seasons and $240 for all seasons.  All participants will receive a Margate Cornhole League T-shirt. Games will be played on Monday nights at Ventura’s Greenhouse, Robert’s, Bocca, Maynard’s and Sunrise Wine and Tequila Bar. Must be 21 or older to participate.
