Free rabies shots for pets are available at the Atlantic County Animal Shelter monthly.

VENTNOR – Time to gather up Fido and take him to Firehouse No. 1 for his annual rabies vaccination.

The city will host its annual free Rabies Clinic 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Feb. 24 at the firehouse located at New Haven and Winchester avenues.

A rabies vaccination is recommended for domestic animals to not only protect the pet but also the pet owner and family members who could contract rabies from an infected pet. Rabies is fatal in humans if left untreated.

To receive a free rabies vaccination, dogs must have a valid 2024 dog license. Licenses can be purchased at the clinic or purchased in advance through the city’s website. Licenses are $10 for neutered dogs with a certificate, $15 for non-neutered dogs. Renewals are required by Jan. 31 each year. Applications can be downloaded at ventnorcity.org. Click the services tab.

For more information, call City Clerk Lisa Hand at 609-823-7904.
