For anyone who wants to learn how to play basketball or get better at it while having fun, it’s time to sign up for basketball camps in Margate or Ocean City by Casiello Basketball.

The Margate Basketball Camp will run from July 8 to July 11 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in Longport. The Ocean City Basketball Camp will run from Aug. 19 to Aug. 22 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in Ocean City.

Both camps are open to girls and boys in grades third through eighth.

Registration is now officially open for Casiello Basketball. To register for Ocean City’s camp visit casiellobasketball.com/oceancity and for Margate’s camp visit casiellobasketball.com/margate

The camps are different from the typical summer basketball camp. There is plenty of instruction packed into two hours, including skill development work and playing 3 versus 3 and 5 versus 5. The focus is on footwork, finishing, ball handling, spacing and movement during the skill work.

Campers get to hone their skills.

Also, the unique 3 versus 3 and 5 versus 5 style of live play is super fun and allows the players to get the ball a lot and implement the things taught, explained John Casiello of Casiello Basketball.

“Even though we use this modern approach to teaching the game, each player gets age/level appropriate teaching and competition,” Casiello said. “Our camps sell out quickly. We limit the number of campers, so each player gets a lot of attention and repetition.”

Campers will receive a custom-designed camp shirt, a player badge, wristbands, pictures, and a player performance tracker sheet.

Each week there are surprises. Last year, some of the guest speakers from the Casiello Basketball training family included Nik Stauskas (76ers), Caleb Fields (Fairfield) and Jordan Hall (Spurs).

Staff is USA Basketball certified.

“We have more player development experience in our staff than any other camp or clinic at the shore,” Casiello said. “Our staff trains hundreds of players every summer. Our clients include a few NBA/WNBA players each summer to hundreds of middle school players.

The Casiello basketball camps have been voted the best summer camps by “The Best of the Jersey Shore” for three years in a row.
