DOWNBEACH – It’s not even May yet, but temperatures are already heating up. As the warmer weather takes hold, it signals time to purchase beach tags at pre-season rates.

Beach tags are required in all three municipalities from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day weekend for all people over the age of 12.

Out-of-towners have a new, more convenient way to purchase beach tags in Ventnor, Margate and Longport this year. All three communities have contracted with outside firms to sell beach tags through online apps. Usage fees apply.

Ventnor and Margate, which share tags that can be used in both municipalities, are using the MyBeachMobile app, which will provide a non-transferrable digital tag to display on any mobile device. Just open the app, purchase tag, and download the QR code. Longport is using JerseyCapeTags, which will mail tags to the purchaser.

Physical tags will be sold in all three municipalities, as follows:

Ventnor

Before June 1, seasonal tags are $10; $3.50 for seniors 65 and older. After May 31, tag fees rise to $20 for the season.

Tags will be sold in person at Ventnor City Hall; cash, check, credit/debit cards accepted.
